Brancott Heritage Centre

TDG provided advice to Pernod Ricard NZ as to how to safely manage visitor traffic across a very large working vineyard to the site of the iconic Heritage Centre overlooking the vineyard, some 1.2km from Brancott Road.

The newly opened facility provides a state of the art cellar door, café and function room facility from a hill-top site offering panoramic views over the vineyard and beyond.

After examining a range of options for access, the preferred route provides a new visitor access route through the vines in a manner that minimises any interaction with existing viticulture access routes within this large working vineyard. A unique feature of the access to the new facility is that the last 350m is accessed by a people-mover up the steep one-way access from a new public parking area at the base of the hill. Vehicle detection is used to facilitate the seamless transition of visitors from the carpark to and from the Heritage Centre by the people mover.
